I Spy

I spy…

I wanted to be a spy when I grew up. I saw myself being trained in Spy Bootcamp, in the middle of nowhere... maybe somewhere in the jungle. Me, crawling through bushes and jumping from tree to tree.  I didn’t really see myself killing people, just kicking them hard enough to knock them out.
I think it’s Bond’s fault. And Spy Kids, I adored that movie. I was the same age, I totally saw myself doing that. Plus the gadgets and I imagined myself being super smart. Okay, I totally imagined myself as some sort of wonder child. Being able to do three different courses at the same time. Yeah, I am a dreamer.

But now I know I will probably never become a spy. My arms aren’t strong enough, so I can’t even do a stupid handstand. I am not super flexible, splits would probably kill me. I have never held a gun in my life, not sure how I would respond to them. I have held a crossbow, let’s not talk about that. And knives are just not an option. I am a pretty decent runner, so maybe I could be a spy scout. Or drive around in a van following people. I could totally do that. So that would make me a sidekick… but everyone knows sidekicks always end up in trouble and get kidnapped. So… no thank you. Unless I am a sidekick to a totally hot spy, who will save me from the bad guys and fall in love with me. Thinking about it, I would probably be a very good spy-wife. Screw sidekick, I would be a kick ass spy wife. I would totally be supportive of him not being home a lot and having a secret weapon space somewhere in the house. Though I imagine, a spy-guy would probably find me pretty boring.

So let’s just stick to spy-books and movies. Because there are some pretty cute ones out there! These are a few spy-books I liked:

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, #1)I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by (Gallagher girls #1) - Ally Carter
From Goodreads: Cammie Morgan is a student at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women, a fairly typical all-girls school-that is, if every school taught advanced martial arts in PE and the latest in chemical warfare in science, and students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class. The Gallagher Academy might claim to be a school for geniuses but it's really a school for spies. Even though Cammie is fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways, she has no idea what to do when she meets an ordinary boy who thinks she's an ordinary girl. Sure, she can tap his phone, hack into his computer, or track him through town with the skill of a real "pavement artist"-but can she maneuver a relationship with someone who can never know the truth about her?

The Recruit (Cherub, #1)The Recruit (Cherub #1) - Robert Muchamore
From Goodreads: CHERUB agents are all seventeen and under. They wear skate tees and hemp, and look like regular kids. But they're not. They are trained professionals who are sent out on missions to spy on terrorists and international drug dealers. CHERUB agents hack into computers, bug entire houses, and download crucial documents. It is a highly dangerous job. For their safety, these agents DO NOT EXIST. James is the latest CHERUB recruit. He and his sister were recently orphaned, and James has been in a lot of trouble. But he is brilliant in math. And CHERUB needs him. After one hundred days, the grueling training period is over. But the adventure has just begun.

Model Spy (The Specialists, #1)Model Spy (The Specialists #1) - Shannon Greenland
From Goodreads: Teen genius Kelly James is in a lot of hot water. A whiz with computers, she agreed to help her college RA, David, uncover some top-secret information. After all, she doesn't have many friends and David has always been nice to her. It doesn't hurt that he's supercute and irresistible, too. All she has to do is hack into the government's main computer system. But a few hours later, her whole life changes. She is caught and taken in for questioning, only this isn't your run-of-the-mill arrest. Rather than serve a juvenile detention sentence, she accepts the option to change her name and enlist in a secret government spy agency that trains teen agents to go undercover. As if that wasn't overwhelming enough, she discovers that David works for this agency as well! And before she even begins to understand what is going on, she's sent on her first mission as an undercover model. And who better to partner with than David himself!

Heist Society (Heist Society, #1)Heist Society (Heist Society #1) - Ally Carter
From Goodreads:When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her to the Louvre...to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria...to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own--scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately, leaving "the life" for a normal life proves harder than she'd expected.

Soon, Kat's friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring her back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has good reason: a powerful mobster's art collection has been stolen, and he wants it returned. Only a master thief could have pulled this job, and Kat’s father isn’t just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat’s dad needs her help.

For Kat there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it’s a spectacularly impossible job? She’s got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family’s (very crooked) history--and, with any luck, steal her life back along the way.

Sooooo, who can introduce me to some new spy  books? I am in desperate need of some spy-entertainment!
